George Edward Painter, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on May 13, 2017, at the Jean McCully Family Hospice House.

George Edward Painter was born in Orange, TX on December 20, 1969. He moved to Live Oak, FL in July 1977 and then to Tallahassee in September 1985. George graduated from Godby High School in 1988.

George began work at Jim Bennett's Feed and Seed and then became employed with Keith Lawson Plumbing where he fell in love with the plumbing world. He used to refer to the smell of sewage as, "smells like money to me"! He soon became a Master Plumber and then opened his own business, George's Plumbing.

He was a hard worker and always tried to provide for his family. He worked hard and played hard. George was also a family man. He got married in August 1990 to Cathy Tripp and then became a father in April 1993 to a son Tripp aka "Tippy". Tripp is a spitting image of George. But his family was not complete, until his daughter was born in May 1999, Tori Renee, aka "Punkin".

In addition to being a family man, a business man, George loved the Lord and had a servant's heart. He was always looking for ways to help a friend or provide a service to help a church or a cause. Through George's life he has been a member of First Baptist Church of Live Oak, and in Tallahassee, Fellowship Baptist Church, Thomasville Road Baptist Church, and Kingsway Baptist Church.

Another fun fact about George is that if he really liked you, he would give you a nickname. During the past few days as people would visit him, they often referred to their nickname that George gave them. However, if he named you something, he was would get slightly offended if someone else called you that name because that was "his nickname". For instant he named his sister, Ed, and was annoyed when a friend referred to her in from of him as Ed!
George was preceded in death by his parents, Penny Painter of Tallahassee, FL in March 1990 and Jerry Painter of McAlpin, FL in April 1991 and Grandmother, Lola Weaver, June 2003. He is survived by his son, Tripp Painter [Havana, FL] and daughter, Tori Painter [Tallahassee, FL]; brother, Gene Painter and wife, Nela Painter[McKinney, TX]; sister, Eydie Tricquet and husband, Buddy Tricquet; sister, Bess Painter [Tallahassee]; grandson, Bryson Painter [Tallahassee, FL]; 8 nieces and nephews [Shelby Sanders, Katie Braxton, Maggie Braxton, Savannah Meador, David Painter, Josephine Painter, Rebekah Painter, Christina Painter and 4 great nieces and nephews: Charlotte Sanders, Wyatt Sanders, Aiden Cogburn and Finley Sanders.

Service will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Cully's Funeral Home on Riggins Road Tallahassee; Visitation at 11:00 am and Service at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Big Bend Hospice at https://www.bigbendhospice.org/donate. Big Bend provided comfort care for George during his last few days.
