Sherry Whitley Cannon, age 78, of Tallahassee, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She was born in Tallahassee on July 12, 1936 to Robin Orin Whitley and Sarah Rinewalt Whitley. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved her family dearly and who was greatly loved by everyone.

She was predeceased by her parents and one daughter, Robin Cannon Candeto, and her husband, Steven L. Candeto. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert, who cherished her; one daughter, Angela Cannon Hirte,...

Sherry Whitley Cannon, age 78, of Tallahassee, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She was born in Tallahassee on July 12, 1936 to Robin Orin Whitley and Sarah Rinewalt Whitley. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved her family dearly and who was greatly loved by everyone.

She was predeceased by her parents and one daughter, Robin Cannon Candeto, and her husband, Steven L. Candeto. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert, who cherished her; one daughter, Angela Cannon Hirte, DMA, and her husband John D. Hirte, Jr.; seven grandchildren - Caroline, John, Steve and Lucy; Anna, Robert and Emma; and three great-grandchildren - Lydia, Silas and Ethan.

A musician and an avid lover of music, she was an active member of the FSU Musical Associates, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the GFWC Woman's Club, Inc. of Tallahassee, Sigma Kappa Sorority, the Tallahassee Historical Society, and other groups. Her hobbies included photography, and entering her works in competitions; motor-homing around the country; and butterflies, including sharing her knowledge of them with school children and others. She loved flowers, plants, and gardening, and she treasured all of her family and friends. A friend to everyone she met, Sherry's bright smile, congenial manner, and gentle spirit touched the lives of many. She will be dearly missed by all, and fondly remembered by everyone.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road with inurnment following at Oakland Cemetery.
